Wake Up & Boogie - What makes you boogie?

I dance when I'm happy, when I'm sad, when I want to overcome adversity.  This week, I learned the trick to dealing with one of my angry students is to subtly dance when I am talking to him because it actually calms him down.  I need him to do tough work, he gets frustrated, I dance, we all feel better.

The other day I read about one of the latest viral videos.  A young woman working for a company made a dance video in her office, put some Kanye in the background, and posted it to tell her job she quits.  I read it and thought, "What a cheeky way to quit!" I have only had one job that I actually wanted to give em the ol' "Take this job and shove it" and in a proud moment of history I actually did.  It was my first job post-college graduation and it wasn't in teaching.  Long story, but man, do I wish I had thought of a dance video instead.

This morning I woke up to post the video and discovered that the folks this young lady used to work for posted their own response.

Aren't we all laughing now?  Dance.  It has the power to express big emotions, and to deflate big emotions.  I bet this young lady is going to get a job and I am also sure that the company will get something out of it too because of this light-hearted response.

Maybe we should send a memo to our government?  Take some Kanye, a few quirky dance moves, cheeky subtitles...BAM!  The government is open again.  Just remember, I thought of that first.
