Our Love and Hope
My sister posted this message on her Facebook page and because I don't have any better way of putting it, I am sharing with you all.
Sending love to you.
Sending love to you.
Today marks 2 years since we lost Nate. It's a date I never intended to give a second thought. It’s a date that I can’t escape. Today, instead of focusing on what we as a family have lost, I want to focus on what we have gained.
Last year we launched the Nate Howe Adventure Fund at the Neighborhood House Charter School in Dorchester, MA (where Meg has taught since she moved back to Boston). We set a very simple goal: give kids the opportunity to be kids, enjoy life, and not think about money they may not have. The scholarship provides students with an opportunity to attend an overnight school trip. The trips range from grades 3 through 8 and trips range from overnight camp to trips to Washington, DC.
This year we were able to fully fund 23 kids trips. We could not have done this without all of the generous donations from our friends and family. Thank you for helping us create something good out of something so tragic.
Nothing will ever replace our Nate. But I am hopeful that through these donations we are able to share a little bit of his curiosity and adventurous spirit with those who may not have had the opportunity.
If you would like to donate, please visit https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/thenhcs?code=Blue1 and in the section "If you have a special purpose for your donation, please let us know.
