Celebrate Nate
My nephew Nate would've been 14 years old today. He would be a freshman this year. I looked through photographs of him and it hurts my heart to see him frozen in time so young. I wish we could know what kinds of teenage antics he would be up to. I wish we could see pictures of him doing regular high school things. His first homecoming dance. Getting a license. Prom. Graduating.
I've learned a lot about grief in the past 3 years and what I know is that every person needs their own space and time to heal in their own way. For my sister and I, we knew right away we wanted to do something to honor Nate. We decided to create a scholarship fund at my school so that kids could go on overnight trips and have amazing adventures. When we told the rest of our family about the idea they quickly jumped on board.
Today we launch the beginning of our third year of the Nate Howe Adventure Fund. Last year we doubled our funds raised and were able to send 24 kids, fully funded, on trips. This year we hope to fund even more.

Today, we celebrate Nate and we celebrate all kids - who deserve to go on adventures.
