It is telling that I have been working on this post in draft form for
2 3 4 days. Like most of you, the schedules are meh, the day to day infrequently goes according to plan. I'm seeing a lot of folks already scrapping schedules.
Shortly after hitting publish on my last post, I hopped into bed. A few hours later, Oscar woke up crying and really upset. We ended up camping out on his
Nugget and sleeping together in his bedroom. The next day I woke up with aches and chills and by 8 pm that night I was throwing up. That was definitely not a part of the schedule. As a result we watched a WHOLE LOT of tv the next day while the SO still had to get work done.

Puddles in PJs, thanks Corona! |
Now that I'm feeling better we're a little more scheduled. And by scheduled I mean a loose routine. It looks more like this:
- I DON't wake up before Oscar, not even close. We wake up at the same time between 6:00 and 7. Breakfast. Coffee.
- I do yoga while Oscar climbs on top of me or cries. Usually done by 7:30.
- Between 8 and 10:30 we do a combination of playing and watching Sesame Street. Usually an hour of tv will give me enough time to check email, maybe respond, and add another sentence or two to this blog post.
- Around 10:30 - 11:30 we try to get outside. Tuesday it was gross and I was sick so we stayed in. That was awful. Today is also gross but staying in is worse so we put on rain boots and went for a puddle walk.
- At 11:30 I make lunch. Although today I had a call so the SO did this for me.
- At noon Oscar goes down for a nap and I set up my "office" aka clean the child stuff from the living room enough so I have room to work.
- Between 2 and 3 Oscar wakes up and we put on more sesame street while I wrap up. If the SO doesn't have meetings he takes over.
- Around 4 we try to get outside again then make our way toward the bedtime routine which can never come soon enough.
In FB, Instagram and Twitter posts I've seen some folks reminding everyone to take it easy on themselves and I couldn't agree more. School at home is NOT going to look like school at school. And one homeschool posted that you don't do school for the same amount of hours. I can't remember exactly what it said but something like 1 - 2 hours for K-1, 2 - 3 hours for 2nd - 3rd, etc. Also, screen time...god bless you. You save us every single day. Even if it is for 15 minutes. Make sure to give yourself some downtime. We are literally in survival mode folks.

If we are truly in this for the long haul, we will eventually figure out a new normal. It sends me into a panic when I think about it and I've had a hard time falling asleep. But the yoga helps me. Listening to music helps me. Getting outside helps me. Find out what helps you and do that too.
I mentioned that I would offer resources and when I look online, man is it overwhelming. So what I do now is I look every day for just one new idea, share that idea, and then move on. I have seen a lot of regularly scheduled "live" events. My goal is to post a full day of events so you can hop in on something live every day. If you know of something that is scheduled every week day, let me know. I'm not going to post the ones that only occur once because I simply cannot keep up with that.
Here's what I have so far!
