I Spy..."More" Version
The book More came to my attention when I visited a classroom. I saw it on a shelf and was instantly attracted to it - especially because the concept of more and less is challenging to 5 year olds.
More was written by I.C. Springman and illustrated by Brian Lies. It tells the story of a magpie collecting her things and getting more, and more, and more. Finally it is just too much. A branch breaks. Everything falls down. I loved reading this book with kindergarten because it so clearly demonstrates the concept of less and more, it introduces new vocabulary, and it also has a message about how much is "enough."
I really love reading this book with Oscar because it gives me time to dive deep into Lies illustrations to look for fun things. There are plenty of little things to spy among the magpie's collection. Here are three sneaky things Lies hid among the pictures.
1. Mag-Pi
The magpie wears a band with a number around her leg. That number? Oh, ya know, just the first few digits of pi. Get it?
